The Subrogation Specialist is responsible for the subrogation investigation, negotiation, and recovery of claims while adhering to the statute of limitation and client parameters.
SUMMARY OF POSITION
Provides recovery service when auto accident results in a loss for a client, both vehicles and property
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Manages a dedicated set of files. Follows client parameters.
- Answers calls from drivers, clients, and carriers. Answers questions from the same. Delivers high class customer service to all customers.
- Accurately gathers and uploads all claim documentation into system. Obtains statements from drivers/witnesses as needed.
- Enters all required data fields into system. Verifies claim details. Gathers documents from client system
- Pursues subrogation recovery within statute of limitations.
- Reviews claims to determine potential for recovery. Investigates claims for recovery opportunity.
- Researches state laws for use in supporting the claim.
- Performs skip tracing and other investigative work as needed and maintains daily follow up.
- Prepares subrogation demands per department guidelines.
- Contacts responsible party to negotiate a settlement on behalf of the client in accordance with the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
- Communicates with client to settlement approvals as needed.
Reviews payments received to close files within client parameters.
- Provides detailed recommendations for next steps on complex claims.
- Meets or exceeds both individual and team recovery performance metrics.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Subrogation/liability experience recommended
- Previous claim handing experience preferred
- Bodily injury and workers compensation experience a plus
- Ability to negotiate repair disputes and liability challenges
