Trust & Safety team members are tasked with identifying and taking on the biggest problems that challenge the safety and integrity of our products. They use technical know-how, excellent problem-solving skills, user insights, and proactive communication to protect users and our partners from abuse across Google products like Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. On this team, you're a big-picture thinker and strategic team-player with a passion for doing what’s right. You work globally and cross-functionally with Google engineers and product managers to identify and fight abuse and fraud cases at Google speed - with urgency. And you take pride in knowing that every day you are working hard to promote trust in Google and ensuring the highest levels of user safety.
Legal Removals handles requests from users and governments around the world to remove potentially illegal content from Google products. Some of the types of issues we handle are: Right to be Forgotten, GDPR Right to Erasure, DPA requests, Violent Extremism, Defamation, Privacy, Requests under local law, etc. We create the legal removals policies, analyze the requests, create more efficient operations, and educate the company and the world about what we see.
As a Policy Specialist Manager, you will lead a team of policy specialists responsible for setting a strategy for Legal Removals’ engagement with product areas and for influencing cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize the team’s needs. This may include developing and launching policies and processes to implement and scale requirements from new and upcoming legislation regarding content moderation.

Directly manage other team members, support and motivate team to achieve high quality results.
Analyze policy and legal challenges facing technology platforms and make recommendations on how to address them. Resolve high-profile policy escalations from users, governments, and internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams for a variety of Google products to ensure legal policy analysis and recommendations consider all teams’ perspectives.
Collaborate with Product Managers, Trust and Safety teams, and Engineering to influence product decisions and prioritization and improve user experience for policy-related challenges.
