The Family Spirit Research Administrative Coordinator works for the Johns Hopkins Center for American Indian Health (Center) as part of its Family Spirit replication team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position. This position works together with the Center's field and Baltimore-based training team to assist in the development and delivery of field-based training activities. This position is supervised by the Research Program Supervisor for Family Spirit replication activities.
The Center has a mission to work in partnership with American Indian tribes to raise the health status and self-sufficiency of American Indian people to the highest possible level. This mission is accomplished through three core activities: 1) research, 2) service, and 3) training.
Family Spirit is an evidence-based and culturally tailored home-visiting intervention delivered by Native American paraprofessionals as a core strategy to support young Native parents from pregnancy to 3 years post-partum. Family Spirit has been replicated in over 100 Native communities across the United States. The Center provides extensive training and technical assistance to all affiliate sites to ensure successful program implementation.
Provides administrative and project coordination for the Center's Family Spirit replication team, which is primarily based in Chinle, AZ with colleagues located in Tuba City, AZ, Sacramento, CA, Albuquerque, NM and Baltimore, MD.
Coordinates preparation of training materials and supplies for regularly scheduled Family Spirit trainings with affiliate sites.
Assists with overall task management and progress tracking, through meeting notes, email and phone communication, and follow-up on tasks as needed.
Assists with coordinating meeting and training plans and making travel arrangements.
Assists with drafting and editing Family Spirit related correspondence, and screening incoming correspondence.
Participates in Family Spirit external communication including a website, newsletters, webinars and other outreach to affiliate sites.
Assists in the development or refinement of health education materials, including curriculum, training materials, and related ancillary materials for the Family Spirit Program.
Facilitates Family Spirit office organization in Chinle, AZ including purchasing and inventory of supplies, facilitating maintenance and repair of project vehicles, and facilitating information technology (IT) needs.
Locates and compiles information and formats reports, graphs, tables, records, and other sources of information.
Assists with special projects and events.
Travels to trainings and meetings with overnight travel as needed.
Assists with other Chinle-based Center projects as needed, and maintains knowledge of all of the Center's projects and assists with other Center duties as they arise.
Performs miscellaneous related duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Three (3) years related experience.
Additional education may substitute for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Familiarity with home visitation programming.
Native language speaker.

Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
