As Staff Accountant, you will maximize the efficiency of our systems and simplify the process for staff to process payments and purchase orders. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable for the WRI DC office. Working with a collaborative team of 11 people, you will review payments and determine the correct general ledger account, project – prepaid, fixed asset, etc. In addition, you will have the opportunity to assist in the implementation of syncing Sharepoint workflows and Costpoint. Due to our organizational size and culture, this position allows the opportunity for you to train and learn in other areas of accounting. Success for this role will require you to encompass a combination of influence, driving innovation, and working well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. The internal title for this position is Accounts Payable Specialist.
Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
Prepare and process weekly payments (wires, ACH and checks)
Work with project staff to ensure timely payment processing
Maintain vendor records and issue 1099 to eligible vendors
Assist with our annual audit processes by responding to auditors’ requests
Reconciliation of assigned GL accounts
Participate in month-end closing activities including journal entries and other analysis
Provide online payment processing training to new staff
Enter purchase order contracts into accounting system
Any additional responsibilities set by Management
Bachelor’s degree in related field
Two+ years of full-time accounts payable experience including solid understanding of prepaid, accrual, expenses re-class, deposit, fixed assets and depreciation amortization
Strong oral and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable
Ability to work under pressure to meet monthly deadlines
Unparalleled customer service skills, strong communication, prior training experience, and expense and audit process compliance
Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Experience with Deltek Cost Point 7, Time Expense and Online payment processing system
Experience with system automation, testing, implementation/rollout and training and troubleshooting system issues in collaboration with outside vendors/consultants
