Primary Function
This position is responsible for general accounting, analysis and reporting of financial results for select Support Services functions, primarily expense analysis and accrued liabilities, including general insurance. The position interfaces with both finance and non-finance professionals across functional areas and business units.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Analyze Balance Sheet and Income Statement activity for Support Services, identifying variances and explaining underlying business reasons for changes.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, disclosures, and external reporting to the SEC related to areas of responsibility, debt, investments, long-term obligations and other areas related to Support Services and at the Company level, as needed.
Perform annual and interim goodwill and intangibles impairment testing, gaining understanding of reporting unit operations and reviewing financial performance, conducting analyses as appropriate. Perform quantitative assessments as needed, utilizing Discounted Cash Flow models.
Support the general insurance accounting process and partner with Risk Management and third party actuaries, as appropriate, to ensure insurance expenses and reserve balances are properly monitored and recorded.
Responsible for preparation and review of monthly close package and associated schedules, commentary, and analysis. Assist in the resolution of issues and respond to requests of internal and external business partners.
Perform monthly accounting and reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with US GAAP guidance and internal policies.
Maintain related process documentation.
Research and apply technical accounting guidance under US GAAP, as needed.
Perform the internal controls (SOX 404) testing documentation and reporting, identify potential issues and corrective actions if control deficiencies exist.
Investigate and resolve issues and respond to inquiries, ad-hoc requests of internal and external business partners and consultants.
Provide support to external and internal auditors related to the above.
Support implementation of new accounting requirements and business initiatives.
Participate in cross-functional implementation teams to ensure proper consideration from an accounting perspective of process changes or projects related to areas of responsibility and new business initiatives or accounting requirements.

Preferred Education & Experience
BA/BS in Accounting/Finance, CPA designation preferred
3-5 years of corporate or public accounting, or finance experience preferred
Understanding and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and related financial statements reporting and disclosures, and internal controls are required
Proven financial analysis skills and ability to recognize and investigate unusual trends
Self-starter, able to work independently to solve problems and achieve results and execute projects cross-functionally while managing multiple priorities
Attention to detail, control/audit mindset and high degree of accuracy and organization
Ability to multi-task and work within deadline orientated environment
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including ability to provide feedback to business partners
Ability to work in a team environment, willingness to learn and accept new responsibilities as business needs change or initiatives arise (M&A, divestitures, reporting structure changes)
Strong inter-personal skills are critical as this position requires extensive interaction with individuals at various levels across the organization, including senior management, external and internal auditors, and outside consultants
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel required
SAP, BPC and BlackLine experience highly desired

Work Environment
During month-end close, the team member may need to work the required hours to complete assignments within required corporate deadlines
Adherence to deadlines, especially during the monthly and quarterly close process is critical
Ability to handle pressure and stress appropriately while managing conflicting priorities
Job does not require travel in general; however, limited travel may occur to meet business needs.

This position has a key impact on the organization by ensuring the timely and accurate accounting and reporting. Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and internal controls. Any error, either in amount or classification, has an impact on the Company’s reported results. Any error could also cause Company or operating management to take incorrect action. Furthermore, this position assists management in making informed decisions. Position has capability to influence change.
