The planner/ buyer procures MRO and packaging material for the West Point manufacturing facility ensuring that critical items are delivered on time, in the correct quantity, at the best price. The position works closely with all the managers in the Operations department to ensure the most efficient sourcing of quality items, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all transactional documents.
The planner/ Buyer is responsible for the planning process one of the Colorcon manufacturing sites and the third party manufacturer. He or she manages the creation and timely execution of an achievable, efficient production schedule for the assigned line of products while maintaining the lowest possible inventory levels and agreed upon service levels.
Facilitate bids, analysis and negotiations for MRO goods and services
Assists Supply Chain Manager in the preparation of all required sourcing recommendations.
Conducts quoting of various commodities as required.
Processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders in a timely manner; expedites orders as necessary.
Prepare the supplier compliances, find out and eliminate root causes to improve the supplier performance.
Sources new suppliers for parts and/or services under the direction of the Supply Chain Manager.
Contribute to the cost savings goals and prepare and present the projected savings report
Create the MPS for the next 18 month balancing the demand and the supply and reaching the inventory targets
Support the Supply Chain manager by preparing the S&OP information in a monthly basis
Ensure monthly production requirements are achieved to meet customer expectation
Develop and maintain relationship with external manufacturing suppliers
Define inventory policies to allow forecasts to be accurately translated into manufacturing production
Control inventory levels of finish goods, intermediates, and raw materials to ensure they stay within planned levels.
Monitor Excess and Obsolete inventory and drive Root Cause Problem Solving and action planning/execution to reduce the inventory at risk.
Communicate supply issues to the commercial team
Ensure that operational Key Performance Indicators are met, and improvement plans are in place when required.
Support the Supply Chain Manager with data analysis and supply chain policy definitions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Materials Management, Engineering, or related field.
