Responsible for organizing the VIPS (Volunteers in Police Services) program, recruiting and leading volunteers, and records management for the Buckeye Police Department.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.
Accept and process volunteer applications
Interview, select candidates, and coordinate background checks
Evaluate and train volunteers
Participate in volunteer program and development initiatives
Plan and conduct volunteer orientation, issue proper identification, arrange appropriate access and conduct required training for new volunteers
Assist with volunteer job descriptions, training manuals, handbooks, and other related materials
Assign volunteers on the basis of department needs and the volunteer's interests, desires & skills
Provide continuous guidance and support to all volunteers
Assure volunteer services/hours/accomplishments are documented both monthly and annually
Maintain accurate volunteer files and records
Attend organization events for recruitment of volunteers
Routinely monitor and evaluate volunteers performance
Assist in the development and implementation of new program initiatives
Work directly with the Neighborhood Services Manager to address problems or concerns
Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications & Position Requirements: Education and Experience:
Minimum one (1) year experience in the Buckeye VIPs program and/or working with volunteers; minimum one (1) year experience in supervision; experience in Citizen on Patrol policy and procedures; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of:
Police Department volunteer policies and procedures
Record keeping and records management

Skill & Ability to:
Provide excellent customer service
Prepare and maintain files, records, and documents
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
Solve routine problems
Manage and prioritize work
Follow oral and written instructions
Operate a personal computer
Work independently as well as a contributing team member
Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with those contacted in the performance of work

Additional Information: Valid Arizona Driver's License
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background.
