The Production Manager oversees all site manufacturing operations including production, utilities, and logistics ensuring compliance with government regulations and site, divisional, and corporate policies. As Production Manager of the Lakeland site this individual will lead the safe and efficient operation of the plant. This position currently oversees 29 operators and 4 direct reports consisting of two production engineers, one OTS, and one control system specialist. This position will focus on both strategic and tactical initiatives to improve site performance while interfacing with EHS, maintenance, human resources, finance, and technology.

Job Responsibilities

Job Safety Performance:
Creates and drives a safe and environmentally sound operating facility.
Emphasizes safety during daily contacts with personnel.
Proactive in the site safety team activities.
Ensures that all Hexion EHS and PSM policies and procedures are followed.
Participates and supports incident investigations ensuring that corrective actions are properly implemented.
Promptly reports EHS incidents to the appropriate authorities and directs emergency response activities.
Process Technology
Works closely with Process Technology group in the development and introduction of new products into the plant.
Drives continuous batch cycle time improvement efforts.
Works to improve batch yields.
Identifies and prioritizes capital projects (e.g. process, EHS, & utility) for the site.
Manufacturing Excellence
Supports and drives continuous improvement initiatives by reinforcing culture.
Manage operations budget and provide detailed variance analyses for process cost and production orders.
Drives good housekeeping practices throughout the site.
Identifies and supports productivity improvement and capacity increase projects, and other site continuous improvement efforts.
Maintains high standards, suggesting and executing awareness activities, leads training on safety topics, participates during site audits and leads by example.
Continuously assesses developmental needs of direct reports and indirect reports to improve performance, utilizes Hexion’s tools for assessing and documenting performance and contribution.
Recognizes good performance, particularly stand out/above and beyond performance as well as delivering corrective action when required.
Ensures continuous improvement in operator training/certification and continued development of operator skills.
Sets clear expectations.
Assists in recruiting talent to staff open positions, both hourly and salaried.

Minimum Qualifications

5 7 years of Chemical Manufacturing experience, including 2+ years of direct managerial responsibility

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in MS Office; SAP and OSI PI

Education Requirements

BS degree in Engineering or Chemistry; Chemical Engineering OR
Equivalent experience in Chemical Manufacturing environment with progressive roles in leadership
