Job Summary:
The Family Life Pastor will teach, shepherd, and lead the church in execution of the mission and values of the church, specifically focused the children’s, youth and small group ministries. While accountable to the lay elders, he will serve as a vocational elder alongside the Senior Pastor. He will oversee the organization and execution of the children’s ministry, the youth ministry and small group ministries. As overseer, he will necessarily need to assume the lead roles as the ebb and flow of volunteers require, however a primary focus shall be assuming the lead teacher role for the youth ministry. He will have oversight over the small group leaders providing training, discipleship and care. He will sign the Small Group Covenant and will be a committed member of a small group. In addition, he will preach 6-10 times a year. The Associate Pastor will plant roots in the Decatur area and demonstrate a deep desire to spread the gospel in the city and around the world.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee, develop, equip, and communicate regularly with ministry leaders(Harvest Kids (0-12yrs), Harvest Students (13-18yrs), Small Groups, Men’sMinistry, Women’s Ministry).
- Serve the church as a vocational elder.
Experience:
Must be a saved, baptized follower of Jesus Christ.
Requirements:
- Models a faithful life of service to Christ in his teaching, shepherding, and personal life.
- Demonstrates the character describing overseers in Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
- Leads by example in the areas of spiritual disciplines including prayer, participation incorporate worship, and a small group member.
- Must be in agreement with Harvest Decatur’s doctrinal statement, core values, mission statement, bylaws and ministry approach.
- Demonstrates a vibrant Christian witness to those outside the church
- Demonstrates an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ through regular prayer, Bible study, and worship attendance.
- Able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Detail-oriented with strong organization skills.
- Familiar with basic computer software tools including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other online scheduling tools (Planning Center Online, Google Calendar, etc.).
- Able to maintain complete confidentiality and assist as needed in crisis situations.
A person considering a future church plant and ministry partner is a plus but not required.
