Job Title: Student Affairs Office Assistant
Reports To: Dean of Student Affairs
Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time
The position of Office Assistant in Student Affairs supports the advancement of co-curricular programming and education for undergraduate students at Mount Saint Mary College. The individual who holds this position will report to the Dean of Student Affairs and his/her designee. This staff member will work cooperatively to address the needs of the students as well as the College community.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Work with the Office of Student Activities to implement New Student Orientation and Opening Day activities
Provide assistance in chaperoning student events that occur during the weekday, weeknight, evening and/or weekend
Provide administrative support to the Office of Residence Life, such as answering phone calls, filing, scheduling student disciplinary meetings, greeting students and/or families when they enter the office, etc.
Participate in major Student Affairs/College sponsored events such as: Freshmen Orientation, Opening Day, First Year Experience Program (FYE), Spirit of the Mount Week, Bonfire, Alumni/Family Weekend, Formal, Concerts, Mount Olympics, Spring Weekend, Late Night events, Yearbook, Admissions Open House/New Student Days, Commencement, etc.
Work weekends and evenings; may also be called upon at times when the College is closed to assist with campus management
Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Student Affairs and his/her designee
Ability to collaborate in a collegial fashion with the Dean of Student Affairs and the rest of the College community
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work confidentially with discretion on sensitive and private information applicable to students
Compensation and Period of Service
Monthly stipend: 10 months
Campus meal allowance
Housing (12 months based on availability)
Approximately 20 hours/week
10 months begins July 1, 2018 – Renewable appointment annually
