The GME Operations Improvement Lead is responsible for overseeing GME/BDA COE (Center of Excellence) transformations and operations, which involves ensuring effective planning, overall efficiency, quality, continuous improvement, and performance goals are achieved. Reporting to the Vice President and Lead of Global Medical Epidemiology & Big Data Analysis, s/he will be an essential member of the leadership team, contributing to the development and implementation of departmental strategies, policies, and practices. S/he is will drive innovative strategy implementation and be the change agent for agile transformations to achieve the customer-centric, data-integrated and tech-savvy future state of GME/BDA.
Business Operations & Improvement
Guides Leadership Team (LT) to acquire, develop, enable and implement alternative data pathways or asset/COE portfolio of projects and priorities through business strategies, operational plans and key improvement initiatives to become more customer-centric, data/metrics-driven, and tech-savvy
Facilitates, finalizes and sets strategy development, goals setting, metrics, and budgeting requirements for the LT
Drives and implements business transformation processes within GME/BDA in support of functional & operational excellence, innovation and quality assurance
Leads and/or supports initiatives and continuous improvement activities such as line processes, SOPs, policies training, etc; questions existing processes for efficiency/effectiveness and influences processes owners to consider alternative methods to achieve outcomes
Drives program management for special projects and influences stakeholders and workstream leads to ensure successful implementation of changes
Responsible for ensuring internal cross-departmental (between GME and each COEs) collaboration, integration, and synergies and implementing transformational programs
Utilizes multiple approaches and consultative/facilitative methodologies to resolve intra- and inter-departmental concerns such as design thinking, strategic problem solving, solution development, agile project management, implementation planning and LEAN six-sigma process improvement across a range of strategic and operational issues.
Ensures teams provide updates and sufficient information for the GME Knowledge Center, legacy and current project information transfer, and shared project implementation.
Metrics and Monitoring
Customizes off-the-shelf, outsourced, or Pfizer-wide project management, customer relationships management, and vendor / data management tools to meet the needs of the GME / BDA business
Manage competing priorities & develops metrics to monitor and report on business development, portfolio of projects, execution progress, and resource management
Manages resource and vendor management request and contracting process for the maintenance and monitoring of in-sourced and out-sourced contractors, data providers, advisors, and study vendors
Provides periodic progress reports, reflecting spend to date, projected expenditures and anticipated costs
Can provide scenario planning from budget request and expense management point of view and can calculate ROI for identified strategies or project outcomes
Manages and monitors Travel & Entertainment expenses to ensure effective use of funds and policy adherence
Partners effectively with HR to establish and maintain high performing function through planning and management of organizational change, training, onboarding, optimization of function / structure, processes, roles and governance, colleague engagement, communications, Leadership Team effectiveness and continuous improvement management
Reviews budget liaising with Leadership Team and Finance
Communication & Coordination
Drives alignment and coordination of efforts across GME/BDA COEs and Pfizer peer organizations (eg, GPD, Regulatory, WMS, PHI): identifying, sharing and implementing best practices, ensuring consistency in over-arching processes and systems, and developing partnerships with key colleagues in other functional areas ensuring ongoing alignment of goals and strategies
Facilitates and coordinates functional forums for continuous improvement of functional disciplines
Develop a strong partnership with communications and serve as a communications resource/liaison by developing regular newsfeed reports for internal and external audience.
Design and lead the key processes, as well as directly develop/compile strategic documents, briefing materials, GME University training programs, presentations (e.g., operating plan, business reviews, etc.) in collaboration with other GME/BDA COE leaders.
Participate in multidisciplinary cross-functional strategic/tactical planning teams and ensure communication and full implementation of initiative recommendations.
Minimum requirement: Bachelor’s degree in business management or health sciences/management
Advanced Degree (eg, MBA), management consulting, or certificate training in Design Thinking, Agile Project Management, or LEAN Six Sigma experience is preferred
7-10+ years of broad pharmaceutical experience (real-world evidence, operations, business technology, marketing, operations, finance, etc).
Experience with management consulting, business operations, process improvement, strategy implementation, change management, organizational transformations, and program management strongly preferred
Innovative problem solver who has been able to transform previous organizations from traditional ways of manual resource-intensive operations to more agile, tech-focused, customer-centric, and data-integrated improvements
