A person holding the position of Accounting Assistant II will understand and be able to operate effectively in all areas of the AP Process. This position carries processing responsibilities, and will be assisting AP leadership with coordinating the daily operations of the AP team. They serve as a customer service liaison and will help enforce established policies and guidelines to identify process improvement opportunities. This position will help ensure processing productivity goals are met and internal controls are satisfactorily maintained. An Accounting Assistant II will assist leadership with training initiatives, and will be involved in developing and mentoring staff members. Additionally, they will be required to participate and lead special projects.
Duties include but not limited to:
Works in all Accounts Payable indexing queues focusing on time sensitive items
Responsible for reviewing live checks received from the mailroom, updating the live check log, and routing checks to the appropriate parties
Assists Accounts Payable counterpart, Customer Support, and field operations with the COID start up process
Reviews and routes electronic check requests from both field operations and accounting
Routes invoices from various customers to the imaging department for scanning
Scans and indexes high priority invoices requests
Acts as a point of escalation for the indexing group
Assists Accounts Payable Manager with special projects as needed
Identifies areas with potential process improvement and communicates this information to the Accounts Payable Manager
Participates in educational activities
Maintains strictest confidentiality
Performs related work as required
Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct” philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement"
Knowledge, skills & abilities:
Knowledge of accounts payable practices and medical office procedures.
Knowledge of coding and clinic policies on accounts payable.
Knowledge or basic skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
Skill in use of computer and calculator
Ability to communicate with all levels of management and customers (verbal and written)
Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions.
Ability to work effectively with co-workers as a team member.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Pursuing Bachelor's in Accounting, Finance or other Business related degree is preferred.
Data entry experience is preferred.
Entry level Accounting Assistant/Data Entry Specialist.
