The Senior Infrastructure Engineer (SIE) is responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and support of the infrastructure. This involves analyzing, configuring, testing and implementing the infrastructure. This may also involve monitoring and controlling the performance and status of the infrastructure.
The Senior Infrastructure Engineer will lead a team including Infrastructure Engineers and/or Technicians.
The SIE partners with the IT Architect during the initial stages of the project/solution to ensure the accuracy of business cases and that the solution will meet the business need. This role is also responsible for benefits realization, supporting the development and execution of a benefits realization plan.
The SIE will specialize in one of the elements of the infrastructure, for example the network, telephony, servers and storage. They will have familiarity with applications that their element of infrastructure will impact and adhere to the established lifecycle methodology, practices and in accordance to project plans while carrying out their responsibilities.
Primary responsibilities includ
Plans, designs and implements infrastructure solutions between multiple platforms and protocols.
Supports/troubleshoots infrastructure issues and coordinates with vendors for installation of such items as servers, routers and switches.
Works on project implementation.
Provides training and assists with proposal writing.
Conducts project planning, cost analysis and vendor comparisons.
7+ years’ experience planning, building, and support systems with at least one of the following: Server technology, data center, networking, storage, PowerShell & and or scripting language. Experience working with the following platforms: Primarily Windows, Redhat Linux would be a bonus.
7+ years of troubleshooting experience, individually or via a managed team: Monitor, troubleshoot and repair infrastructure issues.
3+ years of management experience including managing high performing local and/or global teams. Includes: annual evaluations, hiring, counseling, mentoring, training, and other management activities. Confers with and advises staff on standards, policies and procedures, technical problems, priorities and methods.
3+ years of experience in the Financial Services Industry in a management capacity.
Bachelor’s Degree required or fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in lieu of degree
