Ellucian products power higher ed institutions around the world. We are seeking data science interns with a passion for applied AI to work with the Ellucian Ethos platform to ideate, validate, and prototype future concepts. With the large and diverse data sets our customers maintain within Ellucian products, there are endless opportunities to enhance the future of higher ed through applied AI.
Quickly come up to speed on the Ellucian Ethos Data Model, the types of data available to us for use in AI/ML, and constraints of that data
Collaboratively design and conduct workshops to 1) educate stakeholders across the company on high level machine learning capabilities/constraints/trends and 2) ideate on how to AI/ML can be pragmatically applied to our various products.
Explore the top ideas generated in these workshops to create prototypes and propose roadmaps for full implementation.
Broad understanding of AI/ML capabilities/constraints/trends. Awareness of "off the shelf" and open source algorithms and when/how to leverage them instead of developing new algorithms. Previous experience incorporating AI/ML into released products is preferred but not required.
Technical expertise with REST APIs, Python, Jupyter, and scikit-learn (or similar). Familiarity with GraphQL, AWS Lambda, SageMaker, Tableau, and NodeJS are preferred.
Strong communication skills. Must be able to present to and collaborate with both technical and non-technical team members, tailoring communication style & content appropriately.
Strong collaborator. Must be able to support brainstorming sessions by providing appropriate guidance/feedback that steers the team towards viable & impactful concepts while also fostering divergent thinking. Must be able to work with UX designers and in aligning technical capabilities with how they are presented to users.
