JST Concrete, LLC, a rapidly growing commercial concrete contractor, is hiring for the position of Concrete Superintendent.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversee concrete construction for variety of projects
  • Effectively manage and schedule Foremen and their crews to complete all projects on-time and within budget
  • Insure that all projects meet the high-quality standards required by our company
  • Maintain excellent relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and employees
  • Ensure that strict safety standards are followed at all times
  • Ensure accuracy of timekeeping and vendor invoices
  • Manage all aspects of structural concrete work to include paving, foundations, elevated formwork cycles, layout and controls, placing, consolidating and finishing concrete best practices
  • Determine sequencing of work; maintain and submit 3-Week Look-Ahead schedules; and communicate updates and impacts to schedule with Project Manager on a daily basis. Review weekly job schedule to assure project is on track. Hold individuals/subcontractors accountable for deliverables and promises
  • Provide oversight to the work planning process including upcoming machinery needs, personnel requirements, materials needs, and work in progress updates
  • Supervise, manage, and direct the hiring, training, development, appraisal, and work assignments of personnel. Train and groom employees to cross-train and advance their skill set so they can grow with the company
  • Schedule subcontractors in accordance to required work schedule
  • Work with Project Manager to schedule pump trucks, material and equipment deliveries
  • Supervise and develop hourly man-power labor projections
  • Identify long-lead items that need to be expedited through the project schedule process
  • Identify problems early and act immediately to provide solutions
  • Understand and insure that contractual requirements, including local, state, and federal regulations, are followed
  • Provide insight to Project Manager for schedule changes and resource allocation
  • Be a respected leader – gain the respect of others by being fair, honest, reliable, and hard working
  • Ensure proper housekeeping
  • Hold weekly toolbox safety meetings
  • Some travel required
  • Oversee the work to ensure installation is in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents. Maintain quality control for work performed by employees and subcontractors. (QA/QC compliance)
  • Other unlisted duties as may be assigned

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum five years supervisory experience in the CONCRETE industry
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage both subcontractors and employees
  • Positive, hard working, can-do attitude
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents including drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and the project schedule
  • Solid written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers, budgets, change orders and job estimating
  • Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish) is a plus
  • OSHA 30 hour, CPR, and First Aid certification are a plus
