How will you make an impact?

The Staff Scientist, Molecular Biology, will develop innovative In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) products utilizing new product development and molecular biology experience to deliver quality clinical diagnostics.

What will you do?
Plan, execute and analyze experiments for the development and sustaining of innovative IVD products that support the Clinical Diagnostics Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific.
May lead a small, diverse and cross-functional team of scientists and data analysts to assist in a variety of R&D efforts.
Provides innovative ideas for new products and intellectual property
Manages multiple projects in parallel
Performs laboratory experiments such as PCR, molecular cloning and cell culture
This position is a hands-on position in the laboratory with up to 50% of time for documentation
Participate in compliance audits, internal and from regulatory agencies, and in laboratory and company improvement projects.
Actively participates as a key member of cross-functional product development team

How will you get here?

Education
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology / Biochemistry or equivalent, with minimum 5 years industry experience in IVD medical device field, M.S. in Molecular Biology / Biochemistry or equivalent, with minimum 8 years industry experience in IVD medical device field

Experience
Experience with new product design and development in a regulated environment (i.e. 21 CFR 820, IVDD, ISO 13485)
Hands-on experience on nucleic acid-based assay development, reagent development, molecular cloning, protein and antibody characterization and cell culture
Experience with running clinical analyzers, Flow Cytometry, HPLC and Immunoassays is a plus

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret and summarize scientific results in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
