Essential Functions and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Effectively implements individualized resident care plans.
Responds in a timely fashion to all resident requests.
Provide timely, accurate and complete documentation on TAR’s and Resident Service Plans.
Accurate, complete skin assessments and any changes reported immediately.
Administers resident medications according to the institution’s policies and procedures without significant errors.
Maintains accurate medication administration records as per established procedures; signs off medications as they are given.
Notifies nurse in a timely fashion, of a change in a resident’s condition.
Performs pulse and blood pressure measurements, and documents in MAR as needed prior to medication administration.
Competently completes assignments in a timely manner.
Administers medications to the assigned residents within the timeframe noted in the nursing care policies and procedures.
Weekly and PRN update of resident’s ability to take medications to the charge nurse, i.e., the need for crushing or extra fluids.
Administers prescribed routine oral, topical, suppositorial and optic medications as ordered by the Primary Care Provider.
Participates actively in the care of the residents when assigned.
Displays courtesy and respect.
Manages difficult or emotional customer situations.
Maintains resident confidentiality.
Respond to all resident requests (verbally or call-light) for assistance.
Resident privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.

Gives complete report to charge nurse as needed during the day and at the end of the shift on all residents on assignment.

Attends all staff meetings on the unit when scheduled to work.
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development by attending scheduled in-services and all in-services that are provided to facilitate compliance with government regulations.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or G.E.D. required. At least 6 month experience as a Resident Associate and has been employed by the community at least six months. .
Ability to read, write and speak in English.

OSHA OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE CATEGORY: After careful analysis, it has been determined that this position falls into OSHA Occupational Exposure Category III and requires the following protective equipment be worn by anyone filling this position.
GLOVES, GOWNS, MASKS, AND/OR GOGGLES: Training will be provided in how to properly and effectively use any necessary equipment, in addition to education regarding precautionary measures, epidemiology, modes of transmission and prevention of HIV/HBV.
