This position is for a motivated professional who monitors supplier performance, conducts on-site assessments, and engages suppliers in issue resolution. Utilize MDC’s Supplier Management Manual and monitor/analyze key performance indicators to drive improvement in collaboration with suppliers. Develop new supply sources to improve cost competitiveness and be the conduit between the company and the supplier. Ensure customer specific requirements are passed down through to suppliers. Engage in cross-functional program management to qualify new components, support issues with current production, develop new suppliers to reduce cost, increase capacity, and audit suppliers to ensure process conformance.

Primary Responsibilities:
Utilize Supplier Management Manual to improve supplier performance to preferred supplier standards
Drive improvements utilizing Lean methodologies, supplier scorecards and own supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, whilst driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver value
Track the supplier’s performance indicators (OTD, DPPM, responsiveness), based on their scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations
Based on performance, prioritize preferred suppliers
Research external market information and entrepreneurial companies to identify potential sources and suppliers
Drive supplier selection through robust qualification processes
Develop positive relationships and work closely with sourcing leaders to manage, implement and track supplier/engineering, design changes, capacity studies and New Product Introductions, and transfers
Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier OTD, defective parts per million, supplier quality plan engagement/effectiveness, and corrective & preventative action closure
Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers and the supply chain with regard to product development and procurement of parts
Plan, organize, direct and report all activities and matters relating to supplier performance
Assess supplier qualifications including training and certifications
Keep up with current and developing manufacturing and engineering trends that concern product quality
Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems
Independently determine approach and assigned tasks
Identifies trends and priorities by organizing and graphing/charting data
Applies project management and/or systems engineering tools to complete complex tasks
Perform other job duties as assigned

Understanding manufacturing processes

Direct experience interfacing with external suppliers and customers

Direct experience collaborating with engineering and/or manufacturing operations
Worked in a Lean manufacturing or Lean office, committed to continuous improvement
Skilled with Microsoft office suite
SAP or comparable MRP system experience

Ability to work on own initiative and knows when to seek guidance

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, manufacturing, industrial) or related field preferred; experience will substitute for education.
Proficient in computer skills; especially Microsoft suite
Experience with a modern ERP software
Knowledge of MRP theory and inventory management basics
Must have experience working in a manufacturing environment
Ideally 2+ years of experience
