Primary Purpose:
As a Deli Associate at Food Lion, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional customer service within the Deli Department. Your primary responsibility will be to uphold quality standards, enhance sales through outstanding customer interactions, and minimize waste by following established procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Cultivate a welcoming atmosphere focused on attentive customer service to ensure a delightful shopping experience
· Collaborate effectively with team members to maintain a clean and organized Deli Department
· Assist the Deli Manager in training, scheduling, and supervising the deli staff as needed
· Ensure the productivity goals of the deli team are met consistently
· Stock and rotate deli products following company guidelines
· Display only fresh and appealing merchandise on the shelves
· Adhere to proper procedures for ordering, receiving, preparing, and presenting deli items
· Utilize company tools such as the average cost inventory system (ACIS) for ordering purposes
· Uphold strict adherence to company policies, guidelines, and standard practices
· Demonstrate knowledge of and compliance with Food Safety and Workplace Safety regulations
· Identify and rectify any unsafe conditions that may endanger associates or customers
· Promptly report any accidents involving associates or customers following Food Lion protocols
· Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations at all times
· Wear the Food Lion uniform with pride, including a name badge, maintaining a neat appearance in line with the dress code standards
· Successfully complete required training courses including Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packet, and Training Aid modules
· Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service excellence
· Strong organizational abilities coupled with effective communication skills
· Willingness to learn various tasks and technical aspects of the role
· Ability to apply technical information to resolve issues efficiently
· Must meet minimum age requirements for job functions
· Capable of meeting physical demands of the position with or without accommodations
Physical Requirements:
· Proficiency in using computers and communication systems necessary for job functions
· Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements
· Lift products weighing up to 15 lbs. continuously, 25 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally
· Push or pull items up to 75 lbs. occasionally
· Stand for extended periods, frequently walking short distances
· Handle various substances related to cleaning materials, fresh produce, plants/flowers, etc.
· Reach and grasp items at waist level frequently; occasionally above shoulder or below waist level
· Meet set volume activity standards for the role
· Endure working in extreme hot/cold temperatures for up to 20 minutes at a time
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 28 per week
