Cold Case Criminal Investigators are responsible for investigating unsolved cases in the Violent Crimes, Robbery, Special Victims, and Financial Crime Units.
Essential Job Functions
Investigate felony crimes.
Conducts follow-up interviews and interrogations of witnesses, victims, and suspects.
Arrest offenders that are in violation of the law.
Writes affidavits for search warrants and executes search warrants.
Completes and executes arrest warrants.
Identifies, marks, collects, and preserves physical evidence.
Analyzes investigative information and develops plan of action.
Conducts surveillance and undercover operations as directed.
Prepares reports and case files on investigations and arrests.
Establishes working relationships with other law enforcement agencies.
Provides on-the-job training for inexperienced investigators.
Assists the District Attorney's Office in case preparation.
Appears in court and gives testimony when necessary.
Establishes a professional and working relationship with the courts, professional centers, and victims.
Attends staff meetings.
Answers the telephone and takes messages.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Five (5) years Law Enforcement experience with at least two (2) years of Violent Crime criminal investigations experience; Savannah Police Department experience preferred. Must possess' Georgia P.O.S.T. certification OR obtain P.O.S.T certification within six (6) months of employment. Failure to obtain P.O.S.T certification within six (6) months of employment may result in termination from employment. Verification of education, certifications, and licenses will be required prior to employment. A background investigation, and post-offer/pre-employment medical exam including supervised drug screen will be conducted.
