Job Summary
The Health Information Technology & Services (HITS) Enterprise Device Engineering and Management (EDEM) Team of Michigan Medicine, the academic medical center of the University of Michigan, is seeking a highly talented, customer-and results-driven Microsoft Systems engineer to support and develop its managed fleet of Windows PCs.

EDEM's role is to provide customer-focused engineering services for the development and management of reliable, secure, and supportable computing devices. This is accomplished by providing comprehensive business analysis, the development of centrally-managed products and services, and application packaging. EDEM uses standards-driven technologies and functions within HITS's operational framework to deliver effective and efficient customer solutions. EDEM manages a fleet of over 35,000 Windows “CoreImage” client devices throughout Michigan Medicine leveraging Microsoft SCCM technology.

Responsibilities*
A successful candidate will have extensive experience developing, engineering, and supporting best practices for:

Microsoft System Center technologies
Active Directory GPOs
PowerShell scripting
SQL reporting
Microsoft, Google and Adobe patch cycles
Deployment and management of Windows 10 Feature Updates
An ideal candidate would have a background in healthcare IT where one or more Microsoft 365 technologies were deployed:

Intune (co-management with SCCM)
Autopilot
PowerBI
Azure
Windows Virtual Desktop
The candidate will provide level-3 support for EDEM's SCCM-driven CoreImage, including designing, documenting and implementing support technology while participating in an on-call rotation.

Required Qualifications*

Required Qualifications for Senior Position:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
7+ years demonstrating expert-level experience in Microsoft System Center management and providing level-3 engineering support in a diverse enterprise environment
7+ years configuring, deploying and troubleshooting Microsoft WIM build processes
Ability to document architectural and procedural information for technical and non-technical viewers
Extensive experience in Powershell scripting
Knowledge of SQL reporting as it relates to SCCM
Best practice knowledge of leveraging Microsoft desktop deployment technologies
Detailed knowledge of Microsoft Group Policy management and capabilities
Excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational skills (attention to detail) with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels within the organization
Strong background in customer service, providing direct customer support Excellent analytical skills; the ability to interpret incident trends and draw conclusions, design solutions and make recommendations based that analysis
Time management skills to work with multiple projects at various stages of development
Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Required Qualifications for Intermediate Position:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
3-5 years demonstrating expert-level support of Windows operating systems, including management, troubleshooting, and general product lifecycle management in a diverse enterprise environment
Working knowledge of / experience with endpoint management technologies, preferably Microsoft Intune and SCCM
Intermediate experience with writing and deploying PowerShell scripts
Experience with ITIL-based helpdesk ticketing systems (i.e., Service Now)
Prior experience creating, modifying and deploying Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
Excellent analytical skills; the ability to interpret incident trends and draw conclusions, design solutions and make recommendations based that analysis
Desired Qualifications*
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
Working knowledge of / experience with Microsoft 365 technologies - Azure, Office 365, Intune, PowerBI, Autopilot, etc.
Experience in Healthcare IT
