Reporting to the Sr. Optimization Manager of eCommerce, the Site Optimization specialist will support Shutterfly’s product recommendations and personalization programs by maintaining regular reporting on product recommendation placements. They will work cross-functionally to ensure recommendations are relevant and personalized where needed (ex. SEM PLA Traffic), performing ad hoc analysis and developing hypotheses for running tests to improve personalized recommendations. Take responsibility of upsell reporting and help drive improvements from and upsell perspective within certain product paths. The role will also support driving the upgrade of the recommendations platform and moving the current recommendation placements into the new platform. They will be responsible for testing new algorithms and placement layouts to maximize cross-sell attachment and revenue.
Regularly (daily) monitor recommendation placements live on Shutterfly site to ensure algorithms are performing as expected. Work with cross-functional teams to address any performance or technical concerns
Become a technology expert on the recommendations platform.
Monitor, analyze and provide insights on product recommendation (cross-sell & up-sell) initiatives through compilation of weekly dashboards. Proactively communicate any key findings or noticeable variances to manager, team, or cross-functional stakeholders.
Work with Site Merch, Content, and Optimization teams to make any changes to product attributes to improve recommendation or personalization efforts.
Pull ad hoc reporting as needed and support reporting requests from the Site Merch team for monthly and quarterly recaps.
Drive testing of recommendation algorithms and placement layouts to optimize cross-sell recommendations for different locations of the site, as well as marketing channels
Basic understanding of eCommerce business metrics and drivers; should be familiar with online shopping and eCommerce sites’ metrics and drivers
Proven analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to collect and analyze data, and make recommendations based on that analysis
Understanding of good test setup and metrics (basic statistics, confidence levels, etc.)
Prior cross-sell or A/B testing experience (preferred)
Experience using web analytics platforms and/or optimization tools such as Adobe Analytics, Omniture SiteCatalyst, Adobe Target (Test & Target), Google Analytics, Optimizely, Monetate, etc. is a plus
1+ years analytical experience or internship, preferably in a mid-size consumer or retail eCommerce company
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), both in articulating his/her ideas and gathering input from key stakeholders
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a focus on flawless execution with attention to detail, accuracy and on-time delivery
Basic to advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills
BA/BS degree in economics, mathematics, marketing, business, or related field preferred
