The ‘Capacity, Supply Chain & Provisioning’ (CSCP) group is an exciting and fast evolving organization within Microsoft with a mission to empower customers to achieve more by delivering cloud capacity differentiated at scale. We optimize and deliver industry leading cloud infrastructure and foundational technologies for all Microsoft online services.
The ‘Strategic Sourcing & Supply Planning’ team within CSCP has an opening for an experienced business and operations leader to lead the Contracts Management team that drives end to end management of all Microsoft Cloud Supplier contracts. The Director of Contracts Management will act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership on all aspects of supplier contracts in support of our Cloud business.
Lead and grow the skillsets and impact of a high performing team of contract professionals that partner with internal stakeholders across Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, and Legal in executing hardware supply chain contracts to support current and future business needs for Microsoft Cloud infrastructure
Monitor, assess and continuously improve the efficacy of Microsoft Cloud hardware supplier contracts to provide comprehensive coverage, protection, and flexibility for Microsoft through skillful negotiations and strategic development of new contract structure and programs, in close collaboration with the legal team.
Provide leadership and proactive management of customer relationships, both internal and external. Proactively recognize business and contractual issues, provide advice and risk mitigation strategies to internal customers regarding contract matters, offer counsel, guidance, and interpretation during all stages of the contract life cycle and ensure senior management is appropriately briefed on all significant terms and risks
Lead and continuously improve our contract management process across our businesses by developing new or improving upon existing processes and systems for monitoring contract operations
Management of all hardware supplier contracts through program performance and contract closeout
Assess current state, identify areas of continuous improvement, and define the strategic direction of the department
Lead a diverse team of professionals and evolve the team culture - including inclusiveness of remote employees - with an aim of achieving best-in-class organizational health
The position requires broad management and cross-functional leadership knowledge, and mastery-level knowledge and expertise in contracting process and contract management
8-12 years of business experience, including significant, senior-level leadership roles
5+ years directly related experience managing in a broad range of contractual functions including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts
In-depth and sophisticated understanding of contractual terms relating to remedies, damages, limitation of liability, indemnification, confidentiality, information security, and warranties and the ability to successfully convey the impact and importance of these terms to business clientele and upper management
Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, computer science or engineering, MBA preferred
Strong relationship management skills: ability to build and maintain productive relationships with leaders of other functional areas within and across the business areas, and with external partners to align on mutual objectives
Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with senior management. Clear communicator, ability to summarize and communicate ideas effectively.
Strong cross-group coordination across all levels as well as the ability to work independently and take initiative to drive projects forward. Resourceful at finding the right stakeholders and driving stakeholder work streams.
People management 5+ years with demonstrated experience leading teams to generate a vision, establish direction, motivate colleagues and employees, encourage diverse views, and fostering an environment where people can thrive, do their best work and feel appreciated and recognized.
