Qualifications

Education/Training (both required and desired):
Bachelors Degree in relevant engineering or science discipline required

Experience:
5+ years of professional experience in the required task area
Per contract an additional 5 years of experience is required
10+ years of experience designing composite products, tooling, and defining/optimizing processes
7+ years in a role supporting manufacturing engineering and production/operations
Experience reading and creating drawings required
Experience with SolidWorks modeling required, experience with CATIA is a plus
Experience with AS9100 and/or NADCAP preferred
Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred

Security:
Must be a US citizen
Ability to obtain a security clearance may be required
Expertise and Functions

Provide Engineering oversight and technical direction on composite product and tool designs, material selection, manufacturing processes, manufacturing equipment, and product inspection
Design tooling to manufacture, repair, assemble, and inspect parts
Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities and provide recommendations for process optimization
Estimate production costs and participate in bids/proposals
Lead PFMEA/DFMEA efforts, design reviews, and participate in Change Control Board meetings to ensure product requirements are satisfied and quality, cost, schedule and safety goals are met.
Ability to detect, identify and solve problems that occur during hand layup, automated layup, bonding, autoclave cure, machining, NDI, assembly and final inspection processes
Strong proven experience with analyzing prints and models, understanding and applying aerospace specifications to product realization
Lead teams in root cause analysis and contribute significantly to continuous process improvement efforts
Lead First Article Inspection efforts on new products and assist in training
Write and review work instructions to increase production throughput. Review in-process inspection plans and approve variance reports
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical publications
Maintain compliance to government regulations
Some travel required
