This position prepares and completes journal entries, account reconciliations, and various financial analyses necessary for the completion of the financial statements. As part of the general accounting team, this position will participate in executing new processes and refining existing procedures. The Staff Accountant II position reports directly to the Assistant Controller.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare journal entries and related support
Accruals, prepaids, bank fees, misc. adjustments, etc.
Monthly financial statement review
Actual vs. budget/prior period to identify posting errors and financial drivers
Complete various account reconciliations
Analyze balance sheet account balances and changes
Complete various quarterly analyses
Contract Carrier (Distribution) Expense
Automated invoice processing
Monthly analysis of expense
Calculation of adjustments to contract haul liability
Work closely with AMG Maintenance shops on expenses
Prepare monthly lease accruals and maintain an understanding of our current lease portfolio
Recommend process improvements and changes to established policies
Internal Controls Compliance
Compile data needed to support internal and external reporting requirements
Support other departments as requested
All other assignments and projects as requested by supervisors

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum of two to four years accounting experience.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Familiarity with SAP preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Access is a bonus.
Familiarity with Google KITE a bonus
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Windows based applications
Capable of balancing a customer focused approach and professional skepticism
Conceptual understanding of the general ledger process
Conceptual understanding of internal controls
Strong analytical skills and the ability to present and communicate to all levels of the organization.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
A positive approach and willingness to learn coupled with the ability to work in a team environment.
