ERM is seeking a Communication/Public Affairs Specialist in either our Pittsburgh, PA (preferred) or Cleveland, OH office to provide support on client projects and general administrative support to the Public Affairs team. This position will focus about 80-85 percent on project-related support, including but not limited to the management of stakeholder outreach and public comment tracking databases, social media monitoring and analytics, event planning and logistics, informational material development and distribution, and project phone and email inquiry monitoring and response management.
Database: researching, identifying and entering data for stakeholders including municipal, county, state and federal elected officials and their staff; state and federal agencies; environmental groups; civic and business organizations and other identified stakeholders for each project; managing and updating a variety of tracking databases; and preparing reports for client and/or regulatory purposes.
Event planning: coordination of multiple public meeting schedules, including venue location, catering, and other related meeting needs (i.e., presentation materials, handouts, name tags, electronic support).
Digital media monitoring and analytics: social media data mining, analysis of results and compilation of related reports.
Other: various project-driven administrative functions including task tracking, mail merging, proofing, online research, traditional and social media tracking, project contact vehicles monitoring, scheduling community leader meetings, editing, copying, file maintenance, report preparation, travel itinerary management, conference call coordination, working with printers for production of various client collateral pieces and mailings, etc.
Comply with appropriate project-specific health and safety plan requirements during the course of project work.
Support other ERM practice areas when needed and perform additional tasks as assigned or required.
Approximately 15-20 percent of the responsibilities will center on general administrative support including data entry, scheduling, travel arrangements, communications, etc. to the Public Affairs Team.
BS/BA degree, preferably in a communications field of study (Public Affairs, Communications, Journalism, English, Digital Media/Media Studies, Political Science).
One- two years of public relations/public affairs experience, preferably in a public relations firm or similar setting - internships may apply as experience.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software programs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Professional demeanor, strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task, work independently and prioritize deadline-driven tasks.
Keen attention to detail with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
Willing to work full time primarily in an office setting. Some travel required (approximately 2-4 weeks per year).
Social media/digital experience on all platforms.
Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop experience is desired but not required.
