Octo Consulting Group is seeking a Systems Engineer to join our growing team. The position will provide IT architecture, engineering, and project management support to an Army acquisition Program Office (PO). The consultant will support PO leadership to develop and execute strategic plans to optimize the use of information technology in support of the organization’s mission. Duties include monitoring the technical performance of the PO’s portfolio of applications, and assisting with design and implementation of a cloud environment. Must be comfortable with learning new technologies, dealing with ambiguity, and organizing chaos in a fast-moving environment.
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide technical vision and strategy at the program/project level, to include support and oversight of IT portfolio management, documentation, Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and regulatory compliance.
Provide technical knowledge and oversight to the database, release management, and test evaluation support activities (e.g., task tracking, Information Exchange preparation and maintenance, database development, release planning throughout the lifecycle, and monitoring).
Review and assist in integrated technical approaches to define, document and recommend appropriate directions and courses of action to senior leadership.
Provide technical oversight and conduct impact analyses to validate results from requirements, IMS, design, development, and engineering reviews. Propose technical solutions and recommendations needed.
Assist with creating briefs/presentations, planning, managing, and facilitating/conducting technical meetings and project reviews.
Review and summarize daily status reports for all programs to PO senior staff.
Evaluate and document key technical processes and products (including CDRLs) and recommend process improvements.
Facilitate cross-functional technical and cross-program technical team discussions.
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel; Word; PowerPoint; Project) and SharePoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience operating within PEO-EIS and/or Army Guard/Reserve communities preferred.
Security+ CE certification desired.
Experience with applications that use Apache, RedHat Linux, JBOSS, or Oracle a plus.
Knowledge with JRSS Stack, Microsoft Azure, Amazon GovCloud, or AWS a plus.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a major in a field that provides substantial knowledge useful for managing IT requirements and system engineering activities. Master’s degree a plus.
At least 7 years of related IT systems engineering experience (preferably within the Army or DoD environment)
U.S. Citizenship with minimum active Interim DoD Secret clearance required. Active full DoD Secret or higher clearance preferred.
