We are building cloud-based tax compliance solutions to handle every transaction in the world. Lead, manage and mentor a team of product managers.
Product planning and assignment of tasks and deliverables.
Product lifecycle management from concept to launch of the product(s) across all products/product lines.
Be an expert in your product's space and participate in press activities, conferences, discussions with thought leaders and market analysts.
Articulate a clear and compelling product strategy that synthesizes customer needs, market dynamics, and business requirements
Create prioritized roadmaps that deliver customer value
Define metrics that measure the success of products, and use these metrics to drive business outcomes
Build alignment and collaborate effectively with other internal stakeholders to ensure effective customer-facing launches and a great end-to-end customer experience
Drive strategic cross-product and cross-functional initiatives that will help transform Avalara's business and improve the customer experience
Proactively work with internal and external customers to acquire a deep understanding of their requirements & business needs (e.g. other PMs, operations, business development, sales, marketing & customer success teams)
Identify new products or features that solve problems and automate otherwise manual processes
Establish shared vision across company stakeholders by building consensus on priorities leading to product execution
Develop and articulate defensible point of views based on data from primary and secondary researching including direct customer engagement, particularly for new tax vertical or product launch
Ensure committed product delivery timelines are achieved across the organization including but not limited to engineering
Develop and maintain relationships with key decision makers across the organization
15+ years experience in leadership roles
7+ years in product for companies delivering indirect tax software capabilities
5+ years overall experience with some startup experience including in the indirect tax industry
Experience with agile development methodologies and toolchain (e.g. Jira)
Experience working for leading SaaS companies with a diverse customer base spanning small business owners, SMB, and enterprise
Strong attention to detail
Ability to drive results through influence
Bi-Lingual (English & Portuguese) with emphasis on very strong English written and oral
Position is based in Sao Paulo
Travel required – 30%
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
MBA in a relevant field
Demonstrated experience partnering with design teams on UI/UX
Experience with tax automation products, ERP, eCommerce, and other financial accounting systems
Involvement in relevant professional organizations
Experience with accounting and transaction tax compliance concepts (i.e., VAT/GST/Sales tax)
Experience with analytics platforms like Heap, FullStory, and Adobe
Working on data models with hands-on SQL experience to write queries and perform data analysis
