PRIMARY PURPOSE: To increase employee engagement through innovative strategy related to internal communications. Collaborate with senior leadership to craft and promote communications that build a shared internal culture reflective of our core values to advance NTFB's mission.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and implement internal communications strategy (including messaging, campaigns, tactics, activities and materials) that:
Builds NTFB's culture and reinforces values of integrity, compassion, and collaboration
Connects employees to their role in achieving our mission through an emotive connection
Inspires and motivates employees which result in higher performance and productivity
Fosters employee engagement while communicating the organization's policy, program aims and priorities
Creates a supportive environment for staff through transparency and two-way communication
Educates employees on internal initiatives, programs, and events as well as external programs
Includes metrics of success and where improvements can be made including employee feedback to continuously improve communications and messaging
Provides channels for employees to access needed information
Distills complex subjects into coherent and easy-to-understand language
Leverages results of employee engagement survey to inform strategy
Coordinate across the organization to develop a vehicle and content for timely and innovative strategies for communicating to employees
Developing a good cadence of delivering regular communications
Incorporates key Food Bank leadership and other employees to help deliver messaging
Work with NTFB's external communications team to ensure internal and external outreach activities are synchronous and mutually reinforcing.
Devise creative, fun, and interactive communications including written (emails, blog posts, FAQ), spoken (strategy presentations, all-staff meetings, speeches, and talking points), and visual (presentations, infographics) to help leaders communicate strategy to staff and advisory boards and help staff provide feedback to leadership.
Bachelor degree in Communications, Marketing, Business or related degree
3-5 years in human resources/communications experience preferred
Advanced technology proficiency (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, other communication platforms)
Well-organized and self-directed; able to multitask; good attention to detail and ability to make independent decisions
Ability to work with diverse groups and adjust messaging for various audiences
Knowledge of nonprofit culture and mission-focused environment
