We are currently looking for a Director - Marketing & Strategy to join our team.
This key position will help further develop the KION North America Marketing Department – including Product Management and Communications (internal and external) by providing essential “big picture” thinking and guidance to our Marketing and Product Management teams. This position is responsible for creating interest and eventual sales through dealer and direct sales channels, by increases positive visibility of our brands, products and services.
This position is the CEO’s partner in preparing the company’s short-term and long-term strategic road-map and enabling the management team to deliver on expected results. He or she acts as a liaison between the CEO and his or her direct-reporting management team, aligning execution to goals, removing roadblocks, performing analyses and gathering research to facilitate faster decision-making, and ensuring communication and reporting are executed in a smooth and consistent manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive strategic projects for implementation of the KION Strategy 2027 in North America.
Provide leadership, focus and structure in developing and executing business strategies in areas such as distribution, aftermarket support, market intelligence and competitive analyses.
Build and regularly update the company’s strategic plan and meet regularly with executives to cascade down goals throughout the organization.
Provide oversight and guidance to the Marketing and Product Management teams at KION North America.
Enable Marketing Team to leverage its budget to achieve optimal long-term impact on KION Brand recognition and dealer and end-user sales.
Determine agencies and suppliers of record, negotiate contract terms and conditions for major services.
Maintain effective and cost advantageous relationships with outside agencies on promotional campaigns.
Ensure effective control of marketing results and take corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives is realized within designated budgets.
Oversee and evaluate market research and adjust marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
Monitor and adjust as necessary our position to ensure competitive products and marketing activities.
Establish and maintain relationships with industry influencers, key community and strategic partners.
Establish and maintain a consistent corporate image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events.
10+ years’ prior experience in strategy, marketing and/or management consulting.
Strategy or business development background and strong analytical capabilities are a must.
Evidence of success in developing brands and delivering them to market.
Experience in the material handling or heavy equipment industries is strongly preferred.
Specific experience in marketing of VNA and automated material handling equipment is preferred.
Must demonstrate creativity in solving problems and generating innovative solutions.
Must have experience in leading a medium to large team.
Acts decisively while demonstrating objective judgment.
Strong business acumen, financial skills, and analytical abilities.
The ability to drive change management and influence change across teams.
Internal and external negotiations experience with ability to work across organizational boundaries to build alignment.
Strong project management skills: ability to drive multiple high profile projects forward, effective leverage of all resources to drive results, ability to create improved processes.
Strong presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
German language skills are a plus.
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Engineering or a related field.
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) is preferred.
