Electrical Estimator
Objective:
Create and manage a bid board. Maintain an estimate log and track the status of quotes. Needs to have a strong personality to build/maintain relationships. Must have a strong understanding of electrical systems. Very computer proficient. Experience in estimating software is a must – prefer someone with a background in Accubid. Must also have a general sense of project management.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the overall estimating effort by working closely with other Estimators while supporting the Senior Estimator and Company efforts.
- Performs accurate material area and volume take-offs, securing pricing for all divisions, subcontractor coordination, evaluation of resources, for bid/ proposal preparation.
- Development of take-offs and models in software.
- Leadership through example, sharing knowledge, skill, and professional experience.
- Analyzes, prepares, and reviews bids and proposals for all scopes of work.
- Assist with the review of all correspondence required during Preconstruction phase of project including but not limited to: Plans, Specifications, Bid Forms, RFI's, Clarifications and Addenda.
- Review plans and specifications for general compliance and standard industry practices for utility and water/wastewater treatment plant projects.
- Supports a highly organized work environment and manage multiple projects with various bid dates simultaneously.
- Reviews labor, material, and time requirements, including historical and planned production rates for crews and equipment.
- Solicits and gathers proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related bid documents.
- Assembles and coordinates RFP/ RQP submission packages.
- Reviews project scope and costs using in-house and external labor, equipment, material, and time.
- Resolves discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Complies and maintains an electronic directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Maintains cost data base.
- Maintains Owner, Engineer, and Trade Contractor database.
- Bid package/ scope issuance and monitoring.
- Confer with trade contractors (Subcontractor and Vendors) on project scope, bid packages, and proposals to achieve competitive best value pricing.
- Build technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, completing in person and virtual training, and reviewing technical publications.
- Assist with post-bid and post-construction analysis for lessons learned, problems, and successes that were encountered.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other duties.
- Attend pre bid meetings for sign-in and project understanding, as needed.
- Oversee bids and quotes for new jobs from his/her team
- Oversee Change Orders
- Attend Bid meetings
- Work Hand / Hand with Senior PM
- Make sure Data Base in pricing is updated when required
- Visit jobsite start up meeting if required
Required:
- Other software knowledge includes, bid solicitation and tracking, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Suite, Project, and Accubid or EBM.
- Experience and knowledge of Electrical, and Industrial.
- Must have full working knowledge of plans, specifications, addenda, and material take-offs
- In field experience
- Must be able to proficiently complete complex estimating tasks for projects in various phases of design and construction
- Extensive knowledge performing constructability reviews and value engineering exercises
