What it means: You will enlist in the United States Army as an active duty Soldier, who serves full time. You will generally live on a base, either within the United States or in a foreign country, while on active duty. Active Duty is similar to working at a full-time civilian job. You will earn a full salary. You will also receive health, retirement, college benefits.

ARMY RESERVE

What it means: You are a part-time Soldier. You will enlist in the United States Army as a Soldier. Unlike active.You are required to train and report for duty just one weekend a month and two weeks a year. Serving in the Army Reserve The Army Reserve is more like a part-time job that enables you to keep your civilian career while you continue to train near home and serve your country. This allows you to live where you want, you will also be able to attend school and work a civilian job. You will still earn many benefits, including health care and retirement. You will also earn part-time duty pay in addition to the income from your civilian job.

Responsibilities and Duties

What they do: Enlisted Soldiers perform specific job functions and have the knowledge that ensures the success of their unit's current mission within the Army. Enlisted Soldiers are the most important part of the Army. Like the employees of a company, Soldiers are responsible for carrying out a mission or task in one of 150 different career fields.

The Army will fully train you in one of 150 Careers of your choice based upon your aptitude test and availability of class dates.
