OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for managing and tracking all employee health screening for the organization. Communicates with appropriate staff, supervisors, and managers regarding new hire and annual health screening requirements for employees, independent contractors, students, and visitors, as appropriate. Collects data and analyzes employee health indicators.
Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum's commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer;
Assists with developing and maintaining employee health new hire and annual screening policies and procedures to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, national guidelines, and state and federal laws.
Conducts training courses related to employee health including New Employee Orientation: infection control and bloodborne pathogen training, respirator use, ergonomic principles, and patient handling.
Works in conjunction with Occupational Health and Safety Manager , employee health RN, and infection control physician in assisting with the employee health infection control;
Schedules and assists in coordinating immunizations and testing clinics telephonically and through the electronic employee health medical record system, ReadySet, for pre-placement, annual, and post exposure testing which includes MMR, varicella, Hepatitis B, TDAP, flu vaccine, respiratory fit testing, and tuberculin testing;
Assists with management of employee health database and medical records specific to each employee for seasonal influenza, MMR, Varicella and Tdap vaccinations, new hire and annual TB screenings, and N95 medical screening status.
Reviews employee charts for periodic or special audits;
Council’s employees when appropriately requested or required on health-related matters;
Maintains frequent personal and telephone contact daily with clinic ancillary services (such as radiology, clinical laboratories, EKG) with reference to employee test reports, urgent as well as routine;
Conducts education and training with employees and managers as it relates to employee health;
Provide reports, data and trends as it relates to employee health;
Prepares and distributes required forms for employee health screenings;
Performs additional duties as assigned.
1 or 2 years of post-high school education or a degree from a two-year college.
Graduation from an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
Current California LVN license.
Three years of Licensed Vocational work experience in a healthcare setting.
Extensive Excel spreadsheet experience.
Previous employee health or occupational health nurse experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and the ability to learn and navigate proprietary database systems.
Ability to perform internet and other database searches for research.
Ability to type 35 wpm.
Knowledge of employee health services.
Ability to analyze and evaluate medical claims.
Ability to prioritize and respond quickly to high risk issues.
Good organizational skills.
Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
