AIG has an opportunity for an Administrative Assistant position in the Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory Department. This job is located in Wilton, CT.
The person will provide administrative support for AIG’s capital markets legal group. Additionally, the person will be strongly encouraged to grow professionally to handle junior paralegal responsibilities, under the supervision of an attorney, with respect to a wide variety of legal projects across different legal practice areas, with a special emphasis supporting derivatives and securities activities.
Specific responsibilities include:
Provide administrative support for the legal group, including general secretarial and administrative duties, arranging travel, electronic database management, bank account administration, legal invoice processing, and file management.
Assist attorneys in the review of transaction documentation, primarily transaction confirmations, and in ensuring compliance with recent regulations governing derivatives trading activity – in conjunction with the Compliance and other support groups;
Assist attorneys in integrating IT solutions and enhancements for legal data base analysis, storage and retrieval; assist attorneys in the analysis of agreements and transaction documentation for specific provisions and in response to managerial requests.
Expected to independently and thoroughly handle the above matters with attorney oversight (after appropriate training), including independent issue spotting and thinking “out-of-the-box”, as well as be able to work well as part of a team.
- 3+ years of experience in a corporate law department or law firm, with Capital Markets exposure strongly preferred
- Minimum Associates degree strongly preferred - Bachelors degree also is preferred.
- Paralegal certificate is not required.
- Must have strong organizational and communication skills;
- Be attentive to detail;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs; knowledge of data bases or legal IT systems a plus.
