Role Summary : The Sr. Accountant - Hedging position will play a critical role in executing the accounting and reporting for financial instruments from recording journal entries to providing required disclosures for SEC filings and must be familiar with related accounting guidance including ASC 815 Derivatives and Hedging. This position will interact with Treasury, Financial Planning & Analysis, Tax, and external auditors. This position will perform technical accounting and research in order to provide management with timely information for decision-making and analysis. The position will also assist in other significant projects, which vary based on the Company’s business transactions and priorities (e.g., acquisitions, divestitures, new policies, new types of transactions, training initiatives, benchmarking, etc.).
Key Components of the role:
Accounting and reporting: managing the accounting activity related to the company’s financial instruments (foreign exchange contracts, interest rate swap contracts, commodity hedges, etc.)
Responsible for preparing month end accounting entries for the global derivative portfolio
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to provide visibility to our business partners
Maintaining area related SOX controls
Prepare required quarterly SEC disclosures to support external reporting requirements.
Assist with ad hoc requests
Working with external auditors
Assisting in projects relating to M&A activity, accounting and reporting as they become necessary
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA a plus
Minimum of 2 years of experience. Some public accounting with emphasis in SEC engagements preferred.
Strong communication skills
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization with shifting schedules and priorities
Experience with SAP, Reval, or Hyperion Financial Management a plus
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills
Ability to work efficiently and achieve high quality results
Excellent analytical, teamwork, customer service and leadership skills
