Community Affairs Engagement Strategist- Principal Associate

Position can be located in McLean, Richmond, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco

Community Affairs Engagement Strategist – Technology, Design, Digital, SF & Chicago

The Principal Associate Will be responsible for:
Tech/Digital/Design Associate and Executive Engagement and Volunteer Management

Consult with and support a portfolio of executives/business leaders and Chief of Staff Teams to meet their associate engagement and volunteerism needs through volunteer activities, community leadership and engagement roles.

Develop and implement volunteer/engagement plans for Tech, Digital, and Design

Respond and guide Tech, Design, and Digital Associates on how to build meaningful volunteer engagements and align to the Line of Business (LOB), Community Affairs (CA), and Company priorities

Source, create and tailor volunteer/engagement activities to meet Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) requirements and LOB objectives of culture, engagement, professional development, talent brand, or associate retention.

Partner with Market engagement strategists to ensure Tech, Digital, and Design are engaged in market level community opportunities and to support market based requests.

Collaborate with LOB and market-specific grant maker(s) to strategize on utilizing grantee partners to meet volunteer and CRA goals and LOB objectives

Provide and/or leverage onsite volunteer management support where necessary to ensure high quality associate volunteer experiences and drive volunteer retention

Promote associate engagement volunteer tracking and partner with the Community Affairs Operations team regarding volunteer data reporting

Develop and implement volunteer recognition plans.

Partner with the team to inform customer specific and market specific communications

Maintain Community Affairs role in providing guidance to our business partners to ensure strong community reputation and proactively managing reputational risk.

Ensure volunteer hours are logged

The Role’s scope includes:
Branded Community Program Support

Capital One Coders, Capital One Design ProBono, and other LOB led volunteer programs for Design, Digital, and Tech

Program support responsibilities include:
Leading external partner sourcing and liaison for external non-profit partnerships for LOB led programs

Ensure programs maintain Capital One’s strong community reputation and actively inform teams of reputational risks

Produce data dashboards to inform LOB leads on key areas of impact and volunteer hours

Ensure all hours are logged and qualified

Connect programs to our Future Edge Community story

Partner with teams on their strategic planning process and provide strategic guidance on goal setting, and community impact of programs

Connect Program outputs with CA goals in terms of overall volunteerism hours and CRA hours in each market.

Continue to build the program pipeline in partnership with internal customers and non-profit partners by sourcing skills based volunteerism opportunities

Specific Role with C1 Coders

Serve on the Core team to help inform strategic direction of the Coders program, inform and support reputational risk, and overall goal setting as it relates to Employee volunteerism and community impact

Manage school sourcing for flagship program, and external partners to support one day ignite events maximizing CRA hours when possible.

Build and manage the external partnership engagement calendar, agreement negotiations, and support site leads in the ongoing relationship management of partners

Partner with the Capital One Program Lead to determine the viability of Coder’s event requests and application of coders Programming to Associate requests

Support and guide the continuation kit grant process

Track and produce data to assess the program and inform decisions

San Francisco and Chicago Market Engagement

Dedicated Engagement strategist to the Chicago and San Francisco Markets

Accountable for CRA Volunteerism targets in SF and partner with Chicago CRC on volunteerism targets

Link Volunteer activities to overall objectives of the SF Site Council

Support the Bay Area community roundtable with volunteerism planning, activation, Communications, and data tracking

Support non-profit partnerships with building meaningful engagement

Connect design, digital, and tech teams into market level opportunities across our geographies to support market level goals.

40-50% travel required

Basic Qualifications:
At least 2 years of project management, or at least 1 year of events management, or at least 1 year of customer relationship management skills

At least 2 years of experience in Microsoft Office OR at least 2 years of experience in Google suite, with an emphasis on presentation tools

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or military experience

1+ years experience in communications or 1+ years experience in Community Affairs, or at least 1+ years experience in non-profit

Knowledge of the Community Reinvestment Act
Strong demonstration of written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated skills in relationship management and project activation
