Operates field type tractors with attachments to maintain the fields and grounds at the Youth Center. Operates a variety of equipment to include but not limit to the following: mowers, aerators, tillers, clippers, sprayers, spreeders, post hole diggers, weed eaters, blowers, floor scrubber, and other equipment ranging from small hand held applicators to EZ-go cart. Makes all adjustments to equipment to ensure proper settings, connections, and mechanical soundness of equipment. Performs recommended preventive, pre-season and post season maintenance on all motorized equipment and small equipment. Operates motor vehicles to include tractors, mower, ez-go cart, ¼ ton truck, 15 pax van, 29 pax bus, 49 pax bus. Plans, organizes, and completes daily, monthly, seasonal, and special maintenance on athletic fields, grounds, and facilities. Monitors and maintains required documentation for the Northwest Florida Water Management District in regards to center’s well water management program. Completes minor maintenance and repairs on sprinkler systems. Works closely with base civil engineering to insure that the grounds and buildings are maintained in safe and working condition. Prepares necessary paperwork required to submit and establish work orders and maintenance on buildings and grounds. Serves as primary representative in regards to facility, equipment and safety. Maintains playgrounds to be in compliance with Air Force and ASTM/CPSC guidelines. Observes all safety rules, policies, and instructions pertaining to Air Force, Youth Programs, field maintenance and vehicle operation. Performs other related duties as assigned to include but not limited to general maintenance such as change light bulbs, sweep courts, repair fencing, trash collection. Supervisor provides written and/or work assignments. Reviews day-to-day aspects of the incumbent’s work through periodic spot checks of operation. Incumbent is expected to apply practical knowledge and skill, independently carrying out assigned functions.

Qualifications: Must have experience in operating and performing maintenance on field-type tractor and associated equipment. Must have knowledge and/or experience in maintaining athletic fields to include proper maintenance and conditioning of fields. Must possess a valid current state driver’s license to include CDL, ability to operate vehicle in safe manner and provide a copy of driving record. Must have ability to work independently, paying close attention to safety procedures and policies. Must be able to work inside and outside in variable weather conditions. Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical, obtain CPR, First Aid certification and satisfactorily complete installation, state, national criminal background check. Must receive or have required immunizations. Must have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries. (NACI)
