Vehicle Driver I Part-time position-20 hours per week. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this position successfully. An individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Abilities required to perform the essential and marginal tasks of this job include: Frequently performing light to heavy lifting and carrying (15 to 60 lbs. & over) pulling, repeated bending, reaching above shoulders, grasping, walking, standing, sitting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, pushing, stooping, climbing stairs, operating mechanical and office equipment, operating motor vehicles, the ability to see, depth perception, hearing, writing, counting and reading. Work and environmental conditions that apply to this job include: Ability to complete work indoors and outdoors; work in excessive heat, cold, humidity, dampness, and chill. The ability to work in constant noise, solvents and electrical energy, work on slippery/uneven walking surfaces, around moving parts/vehicles, working with hands in water, working closely with others. Work involves operating motor vehicles in transport/delivery of bulk cargo, supplies and food and transport departmental personnel. Prepares records related to vehicle operation and deliveries. Work is primarily assigned, supervised and evaluated by the Food Service Manager 1.
Essential Job Functions:
Deliver and pick up food and supplies to and from satellite areas: Delivers food carts, tote boxes, call-backs, formulas, cleaning supplies and weekly staples to kitchens or apartments following established practices/procedures. Washes dishes/pots and pans/utensils: Work in the dish room in a variety of stations. May operate vehicle power lift gates, manual and dollies if necessary. Assists in Food Service work area as directed by Food service Manager. Performs related work as assigned. Must attend new employee orientation during 8am-5pm hours. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Operates a State owned vehicle within established guidelines and facility policies. Accurately record events and other information as required. Safety: Performs work tasks safely. Completes required training including defensive driving. Appropriately use and/or protect individuals and agency property. Abides by all department and facility rules. Initiates activities that will improve the lives of persons served and working environment. Ability to operate motor vehicles such as automobiles, vans, and trucks, to pick up and deliver various types of food items, supplies and equipment. Prepares and maintains records and logs related to vehicle operations. Ability to fuel vehicles. Ensures that vehicle cargo capacity is not exceeded, cargo is distributed to reduce maximum axle loading. Maintains vehicle to ensure safe operation, keeps vehicle clean, secures vehicle at all times. Monitors the safe loading and unloading of cargo and secures and protects cargo during transport.
Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must possess valid Texas driver's license. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
Initial Selection Criteria:
Stable work history with good work reference. Require a Valid Driver's License Ability to bend and reach, stand/walk on hard floors for extended period of time. Ability to work in hot and/or cold conditions. Able to lift up to 60lbs. Able to work rotating shift according to pattern. Evidence of good verbal and written communication skills and ability to read, write and understand English. Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
