Serve as on-site Government health physics representative during the Decommissioning of the SM-1 Nuclear Power Plant.
Ensure contractor?s implementation of the SM-1 radiation protection plan and procedures comply with the Army decommissioning permit and applicable regulations.
Review and study radiation related documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with USACE, Federal, State and Local regulations.
Communicate with stakeholders to ensure an understanding of the scope of work for the technical aspect of the District Radiation Control program.
50% or less - You may be expected to travel 50% for this position.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent must have completed, or successfully complete, the OSHA-mandated 40 hour training for hazardous waste site operations.
Incumbent must pass physical for performing work in level "C" personal protection and maintain active participation in the Corps of Engineers medical surveillance program as mandated by OSHA.
Employee must possess and maintain a valid state driver?s license, and be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.
Upon supervisory notification, the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain security clearance up to TS/SCI Polygraph or lower depending on the security clearance requirement of the supported program and/or project.
About the Position: Provide administrative direction with assignments in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. You will have the responsibility for planning, designing, and carrying out programs, projects, studies, or other work independently. You will keep supervisor informed of controversial or far-reaching matters. Results of the work are considered as technically authoritative and normally accepted without significant change.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus.
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education.
C. Certification: Certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.Time in
Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
