The Research Coordinator plays an active role in implementing research studies in the built environment that inform design strategies and document the impacts of projects. Specific duties include ongoing contact and coordination with project teams and clients, conducting literature searches and reviews, arranging and contributing to data collection and documentation, and proactively managing timelines for research activities from planning to data collection to analysis to dissemination. In addition, the Coordinator will contribute to research plans and protocols, data analyses and summaries, drafting and editing reports and manuscripts, and communicating to internal HDR constituents. The candidate must have excellent inter-personal skills, with the ability to work effectively with professionals across a range of disciplines. The role will also include facilitating IRB reviews and approvals as necessary/appropriate per research study. The candidate must take initiative to achieve goals, and must be capable of doing both individual/focused and collaborative work in a dynamic team environment. In addition, the candidate must be willing to engage in developing deeper knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods and analysis.
The successful candidate will be expected on a yearly basis to:
Obtain/maintain CITI (human subjects research ethics) training.
Co-present at one or more industry and/or research conferences.
Bachelors degree in a research-oriented field.
Hands-on human subjects research experience, either in industry or academia.
Strong interest in research about the relationships between the built environment and human outcomes.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and schedule management skills.
Experience with a standard statistical software program (e.g., SAS, SPSS, R)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Familiarity with reference manager software (e.g., RefWorks).
Ability to work efficiently and achieve demonstrable results both solo and collaboratively with teams.
Desire to pursue professional growth opportunities in the field.
Willingness to obtain necessary certifications.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of HDR’s employee-owned culture.
Master’s degree in a research-oriented field.
Background in architecture, interior design, urban planning, or related field.
Internship or other experience in research addressing the built environment.
Working knowledge of Qualtrics survey platform.
Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign.
