Our team is looking for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Bariatric and Robotic Service Line at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange. This is a part-time, 8-hour day shift position for a total of 40 biweekly hours.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Primary contact point for coordination of care through the continuum of treatment, ensuring the patient and family experience a superior and seamless journey through the complex continuum of pre- and post-operative care, education, and information, until their return to optimal quality of life.
Collect and report clinical, financial and satisfaction outcomes routinely to ensure the service line goals are met.
Independently use the nursing process to care for a group of patients safely, therapeutically, and efficiently.
Use information from a variety of sources, including Jean Watson's Theory of Human Science and Caring to assess, plan, implement, identify outcomes, and evaluate patient’s plan of care.
Oversee the duties and competencies of the healthcare team; these include the performance of nursing assistant duties, clerical, food service, and environmental services duties as applicable.
Practice in accordance with all regulatory, professional, legal, and hospital policies.
Consistently demonstrate behaviors that model the SJHS core values and the Hospital’s mission statement.

Qualifications and Skills needed for this role:
Required qualifications:
At least (3) three years of experience as a Registered Nurse in an inpatient operating room or acute care setting.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
Must hold a current California Registered Nursing License.
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal and team building skills.
Strong critical thinking skills and ability to solve problems independently yet collaborate well with the team.
Good math skills and basic computer data entry skills.
Detail oriented, with strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills to achieve/exceed goals and deadlines.
Knowledge of obesity disease processes and treatment protocols; also familiar with general surgery standards and surgeon practices.
Ability to perform pre-op education and provide necessary information to patients before surgery.
Ability to support patients and their families along the bariatric and general surgery continuum from decision for surgery to return to desired goals of activities of daily living.
Excellent customer service and communication with patients, families, office personnel, surgeons and hospital personnel.
Strong computer, data entry, analytical and reporting skills to assist with accreditation application and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Science (MSN) and community education experience.
Certified Bariatric Nurse Certification (CBN).
Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Navigation, Data Extraction, Excel, Tableau.

The Surgical Services team at St. Joseph Hospital of Orange is an inpatient surgery unit consisting of 17 operating rooms and 90 staff members. We are an interactive, flexible and supportive team and a Center of Excellence for Orthopedic, Spine, and Bariatric surgery procedures. The unit utilizes state of the art technology and equipment and has consistently high HCAPS scores.
