Job Summary

The Maintenance and Project Manager is a leader for maintenance and capital projects of the Elk Grove Village, IL and Fontana, CA sites. The position provides direction to onsite maintenance personal and outside contractors to maintain critical equipment and service the facilities internal customers. This position will plan and execute capital budgets and investments projects that reduce risks, cost and improve efficiency. The position maintains responsibility for improving the mechanical integrity and reliability of equipment as well as ensure compliance of key safety systems such as security, thermal oxidizer and fire protection.

Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Duties/Functions

Essential Dutiesare those that are critical, integral, necessary, crucial, primary, and/or fundamental. These essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform.

  • Develop, price and help justify capital investments for improvements in safety, productivity, quality and costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems.
  • Re-engineer systems and processes.
  • Develop scope and evaluate alternate solutions – prepare requisition for approval.
  • Work with contractors and purchasing department to refine scope of work and identify project costs.
  • Supervise installation, start-up and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Archive technical documentation and prepare maintenance plan for new equipment.
  • Manage and lead maintenance team to execute preventative maintenance and demand work orders.
  • Establish and maintain a critical equipment escalation procedure – communicate and escalate during repair.
  • Deliver transparent communication on CAPEX project progress and facility work order service levels to internal customers.
  • Ensure that utilities and facilities are maintained in proper and efficient working order. This includes electrical systems and utilities, oxidizer, air compressor, HVAC, mixers, bulk tanks, pumps, mills, fork lifts, lab equipment, dosing systems etc.
  • Prepare and follow annual maintenance and individual project budgets.
  • Improve and maintain documentation of process equipment, utilities, and facilities.
  • Develop the skills of team members to improve performance of the department – define any necessary trainings.
  • Lead by example to manage maintenance team to ensure maintenance tasks are being completed to sustain facility.
  • Define and follow KPI’s for the department, challenge the team to achieve targets.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Proven managerial experience of maintenance personal and contractors.
  • Hands on Electrical & mechanical experience with industry standard equipment – preferably industrial / chemical industry.
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule – specifically, during CAPEX project installs or equipment downtime.
  • BS Degree. Preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial engineering.
  • 5 years experience in an manufacturing or maintenance industry/supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in PM planning, scheduling and hands on maintenance / work orders.
  • Demonstrated experience in project development, budget, phase planning, and implementation / execution, startup.
  • Demonstrated experience using mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Solidworks, etc); Microsoft Office Suite
  • Budget experience including maintaining cost controls.
  • Experience and working knowledge of control systems, automation, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, HVAC, etc.
