The Support Intern role is designed to give entry level IT staff a position to learn and grow. This role primarily focuses on training in various aspects of IT support, including assisting users with computer issues as well as computer deployment and maintenance.
This role requires the ability to develop exceptional communication and social skills to make the end user feel comfortable and at ease in stressful situations. This person must understand the importance of the client’s IT systems to the business to properly handle the requests. The key to success for this role is the Intern’s active focus on learning new skills, and the Intern’s personal applied effort.
Although this is an entry level learning position, this role can have high client exposure; therefore, personality and cultural fit is possibly more important here than technical skills. This person must have the ability to work through problems and use available resources to get issues resolved. Strong troubleshooting methodology will go a long way.
Work with various IT teams including Support, and Professional Service to develop personal technical expertise.
Learn to provide onsite and remote support to end-users
Field incoming help requests from end users via both telephone and work orders in a courteous manner.
Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all actions taken, relevant research articles, software/hardware information as well as the final resolution.
Learn to apply diagnostic utilities and best practice methodology to aid in troubleshooting.
Take a personal interest in and responsibility for the quality of work performed or associated with.
Follow all company policies and best practices such as accurate time tracking.
Travel to client sites around the state to deploy new equipment and ensure IT Infrastructure is being maintained correctly.
Any IT Experience is a plus
Ability to learn and apply troubleshooting methodology
Working knowledge of Windows Desktop OS is helpful
Any basic knowledge of AD, MS Exchange and DNS is a plus
Basic networking experience is a plus
Ability to pay close attention to details while performing technically detailed tasks
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-moving environment
Strong interpersonal skills including phone manner, written communication and client-care
