The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The primary purpose of the Research Investigator position is to apply pathology expertise on scientific projects for cancer studies in the Translational Molecular Pathology Department (TMP).
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Image Analysis of Immunohistochemistry (IHC), Multiplex Immunofluorescence (mIF) and RNAscope assays: Perform digital image analysis of single IHC, mIF and RNAscope stained slides from different tumor types for immunoprofiling of scientific translational research projects of TMP-IL.
Data Analysis for translational cancer research: Provides pathology expertise to design and develop research projects in an independent manner. Compiles analysis generated, records results in concordance with standard methodology, and submits results to the directors of TMP Laboratories.
Develops research projects using multiplex methodologies for biomarkers analysis on tissue samples: Develop research projects using novel multiplex based techniques (CODEX, GeoMxDSP, IMC, MIBI) utilizing FFPE surgical specimens, core needle biopsies and smears from different tumor types for biomarkers analysis of complex research projects of TMP-IL.
Laboratory Maintenance and Project Coordination: Manages the day-to-day operations of a project. Responsible for ensuring that key stakeholders are aware of project deadlines and tasks. Works closely with the Assistant Professor to provide updates on the progress of projects. Is compliant with the lab safety rules of the department and remains up to date by completing EHS laboratory safety training annually.
Bachelor's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field. Five years of experience in scientific or experimental research work. With preferred degree, three years of required experience.
