ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
This position officiates various sporting events, games, and competitions to maintain standards of play and to ensure that game rules are observed, signals participants and other officials to make them aware of infractions and to regulate play, communicates effectively with recreation staff, coaches, and participants, and maintains a safe playing environment.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
•Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs
•Ability to inspect sporting equipment in order to ensure compliance with event and safety regulations
•Ability to furnish proper uniform for each sport
•Ability to concentrate on task for an extended period of time without being distracted
•Ability to see details a distance
•Ability to quickly and accurately make a judgement decision during the play of the games
•Ability to maintain a safe playing environment
•Ability to read and comprehend rules and regulations of the sports officiated
•Ability to attend umpire/referee clinics
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, participants, staff, and the general public
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
•Must be at least 16 years of age
•Previous involvement in sports preferred but not required
•Must be available to work nights and weekends
