Education
Material Handler is responsible for removing and replacing packaging components and finished goods from Packaging lines. Move samples for QC from the packaging lines to the vault. Load, unload, store and move materials for the production process and shipping of final product. The primary function of the role will require competence and performance of the duties of a packaging line operator.

Essential Functions

Promote and adhere to safety requirements. Adhere to all safe work practices, policies and SOP’s in the execution of assigned duties. Actively participate in general site and departmental Safety initiatives. Move sampled materials from packaging lines for QC to the appropriate vault location. Perform general cleaning as required. Verify that correct components are being staged to the packaging lines. Expected to actively participate in general site and departmental Safety initiatives. Coordinate with the Warehouse personnel to ensure proper flow of components. Stack and restack containers as needed. Keep all work areas clean and free of debris and reports unsafe conditions immediately. Pull line sheets, determine material needs and make necessary trips to transport materials from various warehouse locations. Transport controlled substance between multiple locations. Assist in pulling samples for damaged goods reports (SCARS). Prepare finished products for shipment according to department SOPs and guides. Perform all functions according to cGMPs, SOPs and government regulations. Communicate material requirements with offsite Warehouse. Assist in BPCS transactions as needed. Possess sufficient interpersonal skills to be able to function as part of a team and to work across multiple lines. Be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision. Prioritize and process work according to the production schedules; re-prioritize as schedules change. Acceptable attendance is required and is an essential function of the job.. Work at various stations on any of the packaging lines as determined by needs of the packaging schedule. Maintain clean work area; clear away debris, damaged or defective product, cartons, labels and packaging supplies. Physical/Visual Activities or Demands Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:

1. Physical demand involves heavy work where incumbent must exert 50 to 320 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Heavier objects may require a two person lift. Moving of heavier objects is also accomplished through the operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.

2. Visual demand requires clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less with the ability to judge distance and space relationships, bring object into sharp focus and see up and down or to the right or left while fixed on a point. Requires visual acuity to match or discriminate between colors.

3. Mental demand involves attention to details of paperwork, inventory, and mechanical equipment in your work area.

Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions Environmental and atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:

Protective clothing including shirt, slacks, safety glasses, booties, hairnet, gloves, hardhat PAPR and/or dust mask are worn at various times in performance of the job functions

Minimum Requirements

Education:
Requires basic knowledge of arithmetic, spelling, English, and grammar equivalent to a high school education.

Experience:
Recommended minimum of one or more years’ experience in the department (or equivalent related experience) and verification of sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position.

Preferred Skills/Competencies:
Ability to comprehend and follow instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and deal with problems involving several variables in non-standardized situations. Perform the basic functions of arithmetic; add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure. Perform reading, writing and speaking at a basic level. Good physical condition with the ability to lift and move heavy objects on a continual basis. Proficiency operating all PIT equipment within packaging operations. Ability to effectively work and interact with others and work independently with minimal supervision. Complete successfully the interview process. Ability to effectively and professionally communicate at all organizational levels in a variety of settings and formats.
