Guardant Health's program is applying cutting-edge methods in next-generation sequencing (NGS) to develop blood-based, non-invasive approaches to detect early stage cancer recurrence using a variety of genomic and epigenomic markers. As a full stack software engineer in the team – you’ll be responsible for developing the software used by the clinical laboratory to process patient samples and detect the presence of cancer when it’s still treatable, saving patient lives. You’ll join a small team following agile methodology where you’ll implement new solutions and architectures to solve complex problems in a clinical NGS setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in production clinical-grade software development in regulated environments with a firm understanding of good documentation practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with users and product managers to gather and refine requirements.
Maintain and extend the applications RESTful web service / APIs in Python.
Design and implement solutions end-end from user interface through persistent storage.
Provide written documentation and specifications of software products and services. Preferably in a regulated environment such as IVD or CLIA.
Evaluate, test, and use open-source software and applications.
Ability and desire to work on all aspects of software development in an agile environment including documentation, design, development, and testing of features and sub-systems.
4+ years experience developing software in production environment
Demonstrated knowledge and experience using object-oriented programming and design patterns in production environments
Working knowledge of Django and DRF
Working knowledge of managing and deploying Docker (or other virtualization technologies)
Experience working with a relational database, preferably PostgreSQL
Effective communicator with written and verbal fluency in English.
Detail oriented with an initiative to drive tasks to completion.
Ability to work well in a rapid-pace startup environment
Ability to work well in a group and independently with minimal supervision
Demonstrable ability to perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this position.
The following experiences are not required but highly desired:
Advanced knowledge of React.JS/CSS/HTML
Docker compose and Kubernetes
Experience with cloud platform such as AWS or GCP
Experience with End to End testing frameworks such as Cypress
Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
