Purpose:
This position is responsible for traveling to local and out of state facilities and providing field services for utility and industrial clients. This includes the sampling of insulating liquids of energized and de-energized electrical equipment for laboratory testing and conducting inspections of electrical equipment when required. Additionally, as the front-line contact for clients in the field, the Field Technician will support the operations and sales team to expand the offerings and deliveries of products and services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- To work with the Field Services Coordinator to effectively plan and schedule field sampling services and the required travel.
- To secure and manage supplies, equipment, and transportation to properly conduct field sampling of electrical equipment in the field.
- To participate in trainings, tests, and policies as required by AVO Diagnostic Services and clients to conduct services.
- To obtain insulating samples following applicable ASTM methodologies, industry standards, and best practices.
- To collect representative samples, collect unit inspection data, and secure equipment identification data for accurate laboratory testing and reporting.
- To adhere to and maintain safe working protocols and to promote AVO Diagnostic Services’ and the client’s general safety requirements and policies.
- To safely and properly dispose of related hazardous materials.
- To adhere to company policies and timely and accurately document and submit work expenses, mileage, and related operating costs.
- To interface with clients when on-site in both technical and customer service capacities.
- To routinely communicate sales leads, make additional service recommendations, and effectively promote opportunities to support Megger products and services.
- To provide additional administrative, technical, laboratory, or sales support when available or assigned by management.
Job Requirements:
· High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent and prior experience in an industrial setting is required.
· Previous work experience and knowledge on electrical equipment is highly desirable.
· Prefer certification and previous training on operation of infrared cameras and/or partial discharge (PD) detection devises.
· Previous experience with customer service responsibilities, including the experience and ability to work along with customers.
· Mechanical skills are highly desirable.
- Ability to meet demanding deadlines while maintaining attention to detail while completing tasks.
- Must be willing to take on added responsibilities and challenges to grow within the role.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to be able to compile from and present to all levels of Client’s organization.
- Excellent organization skills required with the ability to coordinate tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent verbal and effective writing skills.
- Ability to travel 50% or more with many jobs requiring overnight stays.
- To maintain a safe driving record
- To work with little daily supervision

Pay: $25.00 - $29.00 per hour
