Software Engineer -- Data Model Concentration

Who you'll work with:
You will be working primarily with a team of software engineers in RTP, NC and San Jose, CA developing advanced software technologies. You will also be working with a diverse set of teams in function development, test, and automation; and customers from several geographies.

Who you are:
You have an extensive, hands-on background in every stage of data and object modeling efforts, especially in manageability, continuous integration, continuous validation, and continuous deployment. You have experience designing, developing and delivering tooling that supports other developers and customers in their job roles. You are comfortable writing code in a variety of languages, including writing and using code generators where appropriate. You understand CI/CD from an architect’s and an implementer’s perspective. You have a solid position on the relationships between data models, provenance, analytics and quality.

What you'll do:
You will be part of an advanced technologies team within Cisco's Service Provider Group. As a senior architect and developer within a small team of like individuals, you will be responsible for a wide range of activities. Your focus will be on models – your goal will be to make their exploitation pervasive across the software and systems lifecycle.

You will have:
Demonstrated hands-on experience in data model construction and maintenance
Demonstrated experience in internationally-scoped industry standards organizations
Demonstrated hands-on experience in a diversity of database technologies
Demonstrated experience programming in a diversity of programming languages and families
demonstrated ability to work in small and large teams
ideally, you will have experience with NETCONF, YANG, and associated technologies
Demonstrated experience working in and with continuous integration / deployment systems (ideally you will have been a lead architect for one or more such)
An inherent desire to make developers more effective by focusing them on the creative aspects of delivering complex software, and minimizing the need to focus on the mechanical aspects thereof
Ability to work with loosely-defined responsibilities, delivering on requirements in multiple areas of a project with some fluidity week-to-week
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Systems Engineering, or related field.
10 years of professional software engineering experience in large organizations
Demonstrated ability to program in multiple programming languages in multiple paradigms, with SQL as a core competency (Scheme, Haskell and other functional languages would be definite plusses)
Creative problem-solving skills
Experience defining data models and using them for analytic purposes
Experience building and using continuous integration and deployment systems
