To provide hands-on clinical treatment, nursing services and first aid to employees who become injured or ill on premises, while supervising the Medical Department and managing the case management function. Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on clinical treatment to include follow-up care & modified duty when indicated
Provide assistance to nursing staff to administer drug / alcohol testing, or any other required testing and provide routine and emergency treatment of employee's injuries and illnesses
Responsible for Workers’ Compensation case management / coordination
Develop and document plant specific policies / procedures to ensure compliance with mandated Mountaire and State programs
Responsible for all occupational health related programs, ensure OSHA required record keeping compliance, and other various duties within the Health Services Department as needed
Communicate daily with Workers’ Compensation third party administrator to report new injuries, claims and continue to case manage current claims. Work with legal counsel as necessary
Functions as a liaison between the injured worker, plant personnel, and Third Party Administrators to ensure effective communication and facilitation in the areas of return to work, Lost Time Management; Restricted Duty, Nurse Case Management and Claims processing and indemnity payments
Licensed Registered Nurse Required.
Certification as Occupational Nurse-Specialist Preferred and B.S.N Preferred.
At least 3 years in a supervisory capacity, effective leadership, management and investigative skills.
At least 5 years of experience in case management.
Minimum 5 years of experience in nursing.
CPR / First Aid certified
AED certification preferred
Specialized Knowledge and / or Skill:
Hands on management of a Medical Department operating on two shifts and high energy level with “do whatever it takes” attitude.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, strong communications, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Occupational health experience.
Knowledge of OSHA, State & Federal regulations.
Knowledge of ergonomics.
Experience with wellness program.
Administrative / Leadership skills.
Excellent organizational and case management skills.
Previous occupational health, Workers’ Compensation / Case Management background preferred.
Knowledge of WC regulations and claims handling.
Previous experience as WC Coordinator / Case Manager preferred.
Ability to utilize established practice guidelines and procedures as directives to perform position accountabilities.
Demonstrated ability for independent critical thinking within Workers Compensation arena utilizing knowledge and legal guidelines to make appropriate decisions / recommendations.
Exceptional written, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Bilingual (Spanish / English or English/Creole) preferred.
